Recent History
After the Swedes left the castle, Kronborg underwent several renovations to accommodate King Frederik V who lived in the castle from 1760 - 1763. King Frederik was the last member of the royal family to live in the castle. Kronborg then served as a barracks for the army until 1924, but the site was then restored and renovated back into a Renaissance castle in 1935. Ever since the castle has served as a tourist destination. Kronborg Castle was inscribed on UNESCO's List of World Heritage Sites in 2000.
