The Kronborg Castle is a renissance castle and fortress located in Helsingør, Denmark. The castle is one of the main settings for Shakespeare's play, Hamlet, where the castle is referred to as the Elsinore Castle. Dispite being featured in one of Shakespeare's most famous plays, Kronborg Castle also plays an extremely important role in Danish history. This website has been designed to show and explain the history and signficance the castle has had on Denmark and the surrounding area throughout the last 600 years since it was built in the 1420's.
